Reviews & Discussion

Review by Sand_Leaper Jan 23, 2008
Bass The World sees DJ Maxximus bringing a selection of chest-rattling grime and sublow to the table, but is ultimately let down by some of the worst mixing I've ever heard on a CD. Simple crossfader throws and awkward offbeat fadeouts kill the momentum whenever you feel that things are really getting going, and they continue to do so throughout the duration of the mix. It really is a shame, as it ruins what would otherwise be a superb snapshot of some of the things UK Garage had to offer behind the glitz and bling of the commercial 2step-era. Not to mention that it kicks your subwoofers like a mule.

This is, I think, the first Mix of (Grime, Urban, Bass) music produced in Europe with a mixture of UK confirmed artists and Euro newcomers, this mix just blows and is actually really roots, true to the bone and totally underground for the ears. Dj Maxximus has has a hit years ago with partner Something J on Warp, and has now regular nights in Berlin where he now lives.
