Reviews & Discussion

Review by PKS Oct 25, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
Dj Muestik from Switzerland has compiled this new SST compilation. First out is Triptych (Charles Michaud) who released his debut album Lost Paradises on Turbo Trance Records. Here he has collaborated with a guy called D-Mush (Eric Gallet). This track goes the usual Triptych way, with a funky groove, somewhere between full on and progressive trance. Very melodic and varied. Track 2 is by one of my favourite full on artists this year, Silicon Sound (Johannes Regniers), who got a good reputation after releasing his debut album Pure Analog on Moonspirits Records. The track we get here is not among the best Silicon Sound tracks I have heard, but it goes the usual way, with tripped out melodies and drifting full on rhythms. Then we get a track by a more unknown group called Hydrogen (Avishy Terdiman and Liran Terdiman). They give us a stumpy full on track, full of melodies and sounds that reminds me a bit of Infected Mushroom. Track 4 is by Coma (Renato Schnyder). Dj Muestik sure likes the new melodic full on NEO style. This track is also really melodic. The melodies could have been a bit more varied in this one.

Track 5 is a collaboration between Silent Sphere and dj Muestik himself. This is a really groovy, stumpy track. Not as melodic in the beginning as the others, but more jumpy sounds and a bit darker vibes. Then, after a while it builds up and become a full on melodic track. Track 6 is by Space Buddha who also released an album this year (Storm Reaction on Agitato Records), which was for sure his best album so far. The track we get here is totally full on trance with a ton of crazy melodies. Reminds me a lot of old Astral Projection tracks. Track 7 is a collaboration between Vibe Tribe and Ananada. This one starts slow, before the heavy rhythms starts pumping. This track is also melodic, but in my opinion the melodies is a bit too much on the cheesy side. Track 8 is by Lemurians (Jan Riemann and Andreas Kuchenbauer). They give us a much darker track, with some nice psychedelic sounds swirling in and out of the track, weird voice samples and crazy melodies. Nice one. A guy called Life Extension (dj Olive) finishes this compilation. It starts beautiful with some eastern singing and flute, before the rhythms starts pushing. The track varies a lot and become pretty trippy.

This compilation is in my opinion the best release Shiva Space Technology has had lately. They sure have thrown themselves on the melodic full on wagon, which has come as a big wave into the psytrance scene this year.
