Reviews & Discussion

Concerning the sounbite samples at the end, here what Alan Oldham says about it: "The sample was taken from an old tape of a New Music Seminar panel. The voice you hear is Juan Atkins, not me, as many have thought."

Hunter/Killer is a fucking monster of a track with a sick sounding analogue bass riff running all the way through the build up. The mid section goes off on a long minimal tangent featuring a whining siren sound that's guaranteed to drive you insane, before finally returning to the original killer riff.
It plays from the inside out with the final few grooves reserved for the following sample: "If you' gon' call it techno, know what techno is!...pick up...buy some shit from detroit and then you'll find out". I'm not sure of the origins of this soundbite but the speaker is obviously at some sort of conference as more people can be heard in the background. Perhaps it's Alan Oldham himself..?
