Dear lord, i feel like an bastard commenting this and giving Tiesto some credit at the same time but Trance was my dreadful and embarrassing way into EDM so i feel obliged to leave atleast one comment to the release that i remember most.
I liked this CD. Back then when i listened to this music frequently, and Trance had pretty much exploded for good that year, but this mix has to be Tiesto's best by far. I respect the team behind it to record it Live with the crowd audience as well because today, it is all done on computer with Pro-Tools and things like that, and they just don't bring the party right into your living room anymore.
about the CD; I can tell you this about the track selection and the mix. It IS awesome with strings, breakdowns and goosebumps and all that nonsense trance was about BUT... Tiesto played these tracks in a similar way at most of his gigs that year. I had an MP3 mix of him live from Trondheim @ Samfunnet, Norway the same year. And many of the tracks featured here was featured there as well. Also i can say many of them was mixed exactly the same way as on this CD. I don't want to talk shit about Tiesto as being a sell-out right here on this page but this is truly an awesome compilation. high quality mixed with vinyl and a brilliant selection of tracks. This is the only mix-cd i respect him for (maybe including his first two Forbidden Paradise mixes).
Last memory of this CD was on a bus on leave from the army heading home. Someone had talked the driver into playing this CD. Poor bussdriver...

I was there that night this album was recorded... Let me tell you about the atmosphere that night... We entered promptly at 23.00 as the party was starting. DJ Dazzle opened the night with an awesome warm-up set including anthem Atlantis - Fiji. The club slowly but steadily was getting full, but it still was comfortable to dance on the dancefloor..

Then Tiesto enters, starting to play with a vocal anthem that I sadly never came to ID this far. Some people may be surprised that he played Ian van Dahl - Castles In The Sky (Absolom Remix) before the actual recording started. I had some beers and it was my first clubbing night in Amsterdam and it was my best night ever. Me and my two friends were dancing non-stop, couldn't believe our ears while Viola and Cloud 69 were banging the dancefloor. Every sound, every cheer, every applause on the album is for real and represents the true atmosphere of that night... And I was lucky to be there..

Nice one.

A nice build up from some dreamy trance to harder and energetic trance.
You can hear the crowd screaming and enjoying Tiesto's performance.

For the dutch people: When you listen good at the break of Silent cry, you can hear someone shouting "Godverdomme", the dutch word for "Goddamn".

i agree with the above posters. this might be the very best mix compilation i've ever heard. every track is killer. i have 2 complaints: one was mentioned, the last track fading out early. also track 5, "silent cry" is edited down a bit. the original mix has an extended middle - makes the change much more emotional and powerful. but these things are small beer; this is still a darned good mix. i'll be listening to this for a long time.

One of the few trance compiliations I own that I can listen to from start to finish without skipping through for a favorite track. Tiesto really showcases his y2k-era talent with this gem of a mix. Ever since I heard "Cloudwalking" at the end of the set I've been completely in love with the track. Tiesto drops a great mid-set energizer by taking "Silence" into "Viola" with a flawless, flowing mix. So much else really stands out, but I'll leave that to your ears for the hearing.

This is one of the best mixed CDs ever made, in my opinion. The selection of tracks is perfect, aswell as the mixing. The only sad thing is that the last track, Cloudwalking, is faded out too early. Couldn't we have heard all of it?

As someone before me said: even today, this CD is worth to buy. It is definitely a must-have for all trancelovers.

i love it, i truly do. even a few years after its release, i can still enjoy the purchase of this CD. This was tiesto at one of his prime moments, with some of the greatest melodic/uplifting AND energetic sets ever to be recorded and made into plastic. tracklisting is great, with classics like Voyage and Sixty Nine Ways, and with hidden gems you may not really remember, but they are great, like Escape From Nowhere. The albums starts off slow until well close to the end of the first track, but from then on its pure bliss.

even now in 2004, the purchase of this CD will not disappoint you

This a good CD in the usual Tiesto style with well arranged and picked tracks, and alright mixing. The only issue I have with it is that it seems to be a little bit heavy on the anthems, many of which by the end of 2000 were very played out.

"This is the world of Magik, where you can create your own fairytales. Let yourself be capured by the musik, feel the forces of nature surround you and enchant you.
Live the life you always wanted to, because now is here and tomorrow will never be..."
This is what says on the official Magik page.

In magik 6 Tiësto has found both new and old tracks but does it matter when the mix is this good ? Kamaya Painters, Fire and Ice - Forever, Push - Till we meet again and Airwave - Escape from nowhere are just some of the tracks that Tiësto has chosen for this compilation
My own favorite on this compilation is Yahel - Voyage that sounds like some sort of dream to me, a sound that is undescribable.
The whole compilation is a must for all trancelovers out there. It can be bought allmost everywhere online. All that I can say is that Dj Tiësto has shown us what trance is, again.
