After a bunch of cheesy retro vocal tracks and LPs laden with general irony and weedy synths, this 12" finally proved that DMX Krew could do it properly, a prelude to the later MPC Trax stuff.
"DMX Bass" kicks like a mule with Miami-style bass, classic samples, and sped-up rap. A top-notch retro pastiche. Also available as an instrumental, this is real electro.
On the flip "Rock Your Body" will sound familiar to owners of "Sound of the Street" (which features "Rock Your Body 2") but not in this rather daft hip-house mix, which really does sink almost as low as that once exciting but ultimately ill-fated genre's nadir (It even features the Lyn Collins "Woah, Yeah").
The "Remix '87" (indeed) is much more the flavour - beefy electro rhythms and a wicked walking melody.
