This record was recorded during a live-chill-out-session in Oslo/Norway at the 19.02.94. Following equipment was used: Roland TB-303, SH-101, Juno 106, Akai S-1100, Digitech DSP-256xl Effect-Unit, Kawai Q80 Sequenzer.
I bought this CD back when it was released in the US in 1995 and shelved it soon afterwards when I stopped buying CDs in favor of vinyl. I just dug it out at the request of a friend and remember why I loved it so much in the first place.
This is a live set by Oliver Lieb (of Spicelab, LSG and countless others) and Dennis Saratou. It was apparently recorded at a chill-out session and sounds fairly improvised. According to the liner notes it was made with a fairly small set of equipment consisting of a drum machine, a sequencer and about three synthesizers. It is one 70 minute track that constantly changes and evolves while never losing the slow, churning groove that is set up in the first few minutes.
This is just an incredible disc. I don't know what else to say. It goes through what could be made into many songs - many beats, many basslines, many melodies, yet is just one track. I am amazed by the amount of talent and creativity that gets thrown into one CD like this which most people will never get the chance to hear.
