Daft Club, an internet based site that allowed fans to listen - not to download - new tracks and unreleased Daft Punk mixes, was the only real failure of "Discovery". To enter Daft Club, you had to buy a copy of "Discovery", which contained a card with a code number.
The only track freely distributed online was "Overture". Also only available for PC Users, Daft Punk invited MAC users to search on "Napster" to get "Overture", which was a total contradiction with the concept of Daft Club, originally conceived as an alternative to Napster. Finally available for all PC and MAC (months after the initial release date of the album), the Daft Club ultimately vanished and all tracks went to be commercially released on the compilation "Daft Club".
Another interesting anecdote: weeks before the official release of "Discovery", many fake Daft Punk tracks circulated on peer to peer networks. One of them was called "Vietnam", another one was called "Pierre Stupide" (using all sorts of samples, including old advertisements). To the question "What do you think of all the fake tracks labelled as yours on the Internet?", Thomas Bangalter answered "Who say we didn't conceived these tracks ourselves?".
