referencing Soul Explosion, LP, RE, DAP-RS001

"It is all a big hustle." That's what you get when you write out the track title "Eltsuhg Ibal Lasiti" backwards. And this was the first hint that The Daktaris' "Soul Explosion" was not a reissue of some long lost Afro-beat gem but a masterfully produced recording by a contemporary band. Of course the Desco label is now well known for having attempted such deceptions. The Daktaris is an hommage to the Nigerian sound of Fela Kuti and was performed by a fledgling group that would become "Antibalas". The Desco version is extremely difficult to find making this reissue by Daptone highly welcomed.
