Reviews & Discussion

Though not as complex as some of the Daniel Wang's more recent works, this EP is noteworthy because of its effective simplicity. Creeping along at sub-110 bpms, "In the Street" can conjure the perfect musical backdrop for a very late night/early morning dancefloor soul searching with its moody atmosphere and longing keys.

Daniel Wang manages to get away with some seriously weird samples again to make BAL003 the best on this label. Very clever indeed.

Is a kind of filigran Disco-House. More minimalistic as Balihu 001 but also a fantastic item. No one of the following releases until today couldn't reach this quality of the EP really...an interesting point is to read the message which is written on the label (after a listing of a number of people which Daniel Wang is thanking for):

"This song is dedicated for Robert Ford of Chicago, 1961-1994: dear friend, fierce disco-diva and editor of THING magazine. There was no BAL-002: don't worry about it. MYSTERIES of HOUSE: What's the woof-woof sound in 'Love Break'? what's Arthur Russell singing on 'Is It All...'? What's the guy singing on 'Cavern'? What are those white girls are doing on the Muzique sleeve? Is 'Double Journey' both halves of the rec.? If so, then what do you call just the 1st half? Who was Billy Frazier now, really...?"
