referencing Spleen And Ideal, CD, Album, CAD 512 CD

This is the best Dead Can Dance album in their whole discography (in my opinion, of course). It manages to escape from a lot of the experimental material riddled throughout their self-titled debut which is not normally something I approve of, however, every track on here is outstanding and classic.

Brendan Perry's vocals have never sounded better than they do on this album (my favourite songs happen to be 'The Cardinal Sin' and 'Advent'), and if you're a fan of Lisa Gerrard there are a few great tracks showcasing the oft-operatic heights she reaches.

The only problem is that the CD ends much too quickly (at approximately 37 minutes), but at the same time it would seem that they didn't bother to put any filler on here to murk up the mix. Every track is superb and I would definitely recommend this as the first place to start if you haven't heard anything from Dead Can Dance and are interested in adding some to your collection.
