Arrival really is one of the most beautiful techno records I have heard. It is a huge progression from the usual dub techno template and is a journey from start to finish. The ethereal pads drift along effortlessly and the delicate percussion compliments it perfectly. If you enjoy the GAS releases, then this track is right up your alley.
This release is incredibly limited though and I was lucky enough to pick up a copy on black vinyl before they sold out. Luckily, Arrival was licensed for use on the excellent Styrax Leaves label, so you should still be able to get a copy from there. Truly touching, timeless music.

all levels of deepness and minimalism have been raised to another level with this release. octal comes back after a three year hiatus to make a beautiful record that anyone involved with the dub / downtempo / minimal scene should not be without. a stunning example of the beauty of techno...records like this are few and far between.

Two tracks on Octal's third release that compliment each other nicely. 'Arrival' is a mesmirising slice of minimal techno, very similar in production style to Jeff Samuel. With elements of click, glitch and squelch it floats along beautifully. 'Departure' is classic Rod Modell/Deepchord material, with a warm rich feeling. Subtle percussion emerges into the second half of the track, which then slowly reduces until we are left with nothing but the beat and the analogue hiss. Exceptional tracks and thoroughly recommended.
