Reviews & Discussion

By far the weakest of the three Deepside EPs. The lush brilliance of classics such as "French" and "Prelusion" is completely absent here - instead you're offered some rather passé Euro-techno. This is perhaps related to the fact that the tunes were originally conceived by Guy Rabiller (Ludovic Navarre's partner in his previous project, Sub System) - Navarre is only credited with production duties. Quite monotonous and mechanical sounding tracks, with embarassing over-use of that U96-style robot vocoder - "shudder" indeed... (although said tune is probably the best moment here, and vocoder-free too). The more downtempo "Conscience" contains some jazzy flute sounds and congas that perhaps point the way forward to St. Germain. Either way, unless you're a fnac/Navarre collector, you can give this one a miss. The other two Deepside EPs are still utterly essential, though.
