Reviews & Discussion

I was terribly disappointed with this album. Of course I didn't expect another Karma or Semantic Spaces, but Chimera turned out to be an album full of mediocre melodies and beats with female vocals I can do without (why do many people think it's an essential ingredient anyway)?. The only reason I bought this is for the 2nd cd with the Rank 1 remix of Underwater and the video clips.

This was easily the biggest let down of 2003 for me so far. It is true that my expectations were high after the amazing "Karma" and the beaufiul "Poem". The stark debut of rival "Conjure One" only set the expectations even higher. However, after having owned this disc for a while now I can only say that I remain disappointed. The production is still top notch, there are talented people onboard, even the cover art is ok. But it all sounds so incredibly dull. Unlike when I heard the preceeding releases there were no songs to stand out and capture my interest, instead a creeping sensation of "been there, done that" started to complain. It doesn't matter how many talented singers would help out here, as there is nothing to stand out and embrace you. If you listened to "Conjure One" before you heard this, I'm pretty sure you will have the same impression. I'm sorry guys, but this release won't do it for me.
