A mixed bag this. Most of the housier tunes on this album are not really to me taste, as the hooks just don't cut it in my ears. Only exception would probably be Lil' Fuck, for which I think Etienne de Crecy is largely to blame. However, the various small interludes and the more downtempo workouts on this album are really wonderful and still make this album worth getting. L'Air Blanc (which instantly makes me wanna pick up a guitar again), Back In The Daze with its wonderful flute arrangement and the gorgeous yet reflective Heartbreaker are good examples of this.

Much ink has been spilled about French house, but not quite enough about wunderkind Demon. There’s a healthy dose of disco in his debut album, Midnight Funk, but not so much to make you resent the 70s altogether. “Lil’Fuck,” “Midnight Funk,” and “Now That I Have You” are all damn good house tracks. If you’re in the mood for something slower, “Lost Highway” will hit the spot. Or if you want something moody, “Heartbreaker” is the way to go. The disco is used judiciously, mostly in the form of short vocal samples (like on “Streets”), to serve the interest of the track -– which is how it should work anyway. And this album works beautifully.
