Dernière Volonté's first full-lenght output is a very atmospheric and powerful record, much harsher and darker than the popular follow-up published last year. Beating, martial rhythms and gloomy keyboard patterns are the main elements, combined with orchestral samples (Prokofiev's "Alexander Nievski" is still everyone's favourite source) and Geoffrey D.'s characteristic voice. "Ami" is the most poppy song here, anticipating the future melodic developments, while "Nous Mantenons Nôtre Histoire" is the melodramatic manifesto, with an obsessive industrial rhythm sampled from Test Dept's "Hunger". The weakest track is probably "Les Tambours", too derivative from Les Joyaux De La Princesse (but don't tell Geoffrey, he hates him!). On the whole, a very good debut album for this increasingly popular French artist.
