Picture the scene - Friday 6th August 1999, Cafe Mambo, San Antonio, Ibiza, listening to Pete Tong's show as it's broadcast live on Radio 1. Paul Van Dyk is on deck duty, doing a special 30 minute "hot mix" to finish the show. This tune was his penultimate (and followed Thrillseekers - Synaesthesia...). I knew he was going to finish with For An Angel, but I didn't know he was going to play such a fantastic tune before it. It was the "Part II" mix (which for me is by far the best version).

Classic melodic trance, with an initially tough bass line and a melody that I used to think sounded a bit like the tune off the old cricket programmes... don't let that put you off though! As the tune progresses, the bass line starts changing key, losing its harder edge and making it more euphoric. It then follows the standard formula of the time to the outro. Quite similar in structure to Balearic Bill - Destination Sunshine.

I heard PVD play this in quite a few of his sets which speaks for itself really. Excellent tune.

EDIT - I recently edited my original post after Des Mitchell (apparently) criticised me for having an opinion and not loving all mixes of his tune. LOL. Sorry Des. Please also pass on my apologies to Sven and Yohan...
