Reviews & Discussion

Rated 4/5

Basically this EP is not just The Deviant but should be named Orichalcum & The Deviant causer it's not just Serge Soque but anyway:

Side A: Tricky experimental, fast and tripping somehow tune. Yet dark and aggressive, with the idea of aliens playing behind knobs and creating spacey sounds. Not bad even if not spiritual or positive.

Side B: Hypnotic, hypnotizing short intro that suddently becomes bouncing and prepare us for more tricky fxs as side A tought us. Again analogical synths touched here and there souding alien, and a touch of mysterious vibes; this tune is more interesting than the other side and reminds me of doof in certian points acidic and enchanting.

Nice EP

Orichalcum also split into The Deviant, and also Alienated. Serge Souqe from The Antidote and Total Eclipse is the 'deviant'. The tracks that feature him are much more uplifting.
Tip Reocords released all the tracks made by Orichalcum and The Deviant on 12" singles, and also on a Orichalcum and The Deviant compilation 2X12" release, which doesn't make a lot of sense, but was probably done to boost sales in some way.
What sets The Deviant apart from Orichalcum is that Orichalcum was dark, tecky and brilliant. The Deviant was more or less the same, but light6er and more accessible.
