Reviews & Discussion

Rated 3/5
Review by Brandes Sep 11, 2007
Again, this Southport compilation for me is a disappointment overall. The Dimitri from Paris mix is ineffectual and is certainly not as good as his famed 'A Night at the Playboy Mansion.' Some good songs/tracks on there but overall leaves me cold as a mix.

The Jazzie B mix is pretty good albeit a little obvious. Mixing isn't the best but then it never is going to be (understandable considering the genre).

The Quentin Harris mix is a disappointment. Again, some good tracks on here in isolation. Nonetheless, the mixing is on the sloppy side and there are quite a few key clashes. Acceptable when live but not on a studio mix.

I would only buy this if it was cheap. Buy Kerri Chandler's Southport Mix (Volume 6) and/or Joey Negro/Miguel Migs (Volume 1) instead. In fact, Kerri's mix is about the best Garage/House mix I've heard this year. That's essential, this isn't I'm afraid.
