Reviews & Discussion

Review by damnzenman Jul 28, 2008
I listened to this album for the first time on a hot sweaty day.
The song "He aint heavy, he is my brother" came on, instant chicken pocks, tears rolled down my eyes. Music this good, this pure, i couldnt believe it.

Then i heard his interpretation of the Beatles song "Yesterday", all i could say after hearing it was "Beatles who?"

This album really is one of the greatest live albums ever recorded. Not a single foul note is to be found on here, everything is sung with a perfect crisp voice. Donny Hathaway, a man who truly defined Soul. He wrote, arranged, played on the keyboard/piano, and sang definitive interpretations of so many songs.

Mr. Hathaway, you were taken from us way too soon. Mr. Hathaway i thank you from the bottom of my heart. You were the greatest singer that ever lived.

Rest in Peace Mr. Donny Hathaway.
