The second release of Boris Blenn for Spirit Zone records are two tracks from his debut album. As always Electric Universe stands for more sober music, which (at least to me) is more trance than psychedelic. The A-side, "One Love", is a surprisingly compressor heavy track, something which to this day isn't heard too often and certainly not in morning trance. It works very well though. The melodies are simple but very well crafted. Some 303-esque action adds to the layers of sounds and tasteful cutoff sweeps pushes things forward. This oozes of that Electric Universe vibe and it's very, very good. Big atmospheric pads float on top from time to time. Just when you think you've heard all the variations of the melodies there's an extra layer thrown on which sounds a bit like a like a gated choir a la Hallucinogens classic "Angelic Particles". Then raising it an octave and letting the 303 kick in again, Boris sends us spiraling into the sunrise. This track just never ends either, it's 11 minutes 18 seconds of pure morning bliss.

"Out Of Time" has more 303 goodness than the A-side. At 5 BPM faster, this track pushes you along with a little more force. The first couple of minutes are darker too, and the melodies that eventually come bursting in reminds me a bit of some old Etnica releases. This is more of a nighttime track, but absolutely loaded with melodies and swirling layers of sound. Goosebump material if you're in the mood, especially with those tingling high-frequency sounds. There is a big 303 melody with an extremely tight reverb (bathroom-style) that breaks the spell a bit, but still a good track.

Conclusion: The melodies might be too plain for some and those who dislike oldschool goa should steer VERY clear of this, but for lovers of morning trance in general and Electric Universe in particular, this is a must-have. The A-side is the true gem of the two.
