I really like Elting & Lieb's releases under their MRI moniker, but I think I like this one even better, though the styles aren't too comparable. "Disturbedances" is much more minimal and dubby than anything they've done as MRI, in my opinion.
That, of course, makes it better to me :) I like every track on this album, but tracks 4, 7 & 9 stand out. 4 is a midtempo minimal stomper that immediately conjures up visions of older Basic Channel productions with a fresher face. 7 reminds me more of some of the tracks on "All That Glitters"; it's upbeat, midtempo, more airy and fun, but not terribly funky. 9 almost sounds like a hybrid of some smashing Swedish techno and the Cologne minimal aesthetic - the result is surprisingly pleasing.
On the whole, if you've liked Elting & Lieb's productions as MRI, you'll like this. If you think MRI's work suffers only for a flair for the glitzy/discoy, those elements have all but been removed on "Disturbedances", so you'll like this one.
