A fine album and an even stronger debut. Still today this LP sounds real good. the sound if full and on point. Heavy drums , dense bass, effective guitar works and Elvis voice that runs the show with clever and sometimes very melodic songwriting. The impact of this style, reminiscent of old Beat and Rock'n Roll let in a breath of fresh air at a time (the late seventies), when long Progressive or Hard Rock songs were the norm. Here the songs range from 1.30 - 3.35 minutes - the ideal length for a Pop Song or a Single. This was the winning formula of 'My Aim Is True'. Stripped off all unnecesary doodling the songs are on point and the album is over before it has a chance to bore you. We can argue about what is the best LP by Elvis Costello - but this will always be mentioned among the favouites..
