Opening track Aranyanyara sets the tone – dreamy and packed with melodies. Add to this (non vocoded) vocals! Now, in my book vocals and psychedelic music can make highly unsuitable bedfellas but in Entheogenic’s soundscape the two mixes perfect. The psychedelic aspects are left just as clear and the vocals doesn’t cramp any cheesy pop-modern atmosphere into the tracks. As a matter of fact, at the end of the album it’s the tracks with non vocoded vocals, i.e. Aranyanyara, Pagan Dream Machine and Ground Luminosity, that stands most clear and earns the album as a whole a warm hearted recommendation. Stunning tracks and among my all time chill out favourites.
As for the remainder you get a little of everything. The Abakus remix of Aranyanyara is quite remarkable with it’s Billy Jean ground sample – and perhaps more memorable than good. Without Thought is a catchy *up-beat* chill out track, Ott’s version of Timeless a spacey dreamer, and Without Thought in the Youth version a dub influenced chiller. Not all equally appealing the remaining tracks are still far from filler material. All in all highly recommended.
But the cover work must be among the most hideous EVER in psytrance!
