This may not be the most sophisticated of Bates n Beckers' recordings, but it is almost certainly the most passionate. Starting quietly against a stuttering sequencer rhythm, this spirals upwards, ever-intensifying until it spews to its crescendo. Whatever it is that Martyn is singing about comes from the heart, ripped through the ragged torn rib cage of human feeling, dripping in pain, emotional as nerve endings on fire. At the time this was released, EIG were working at such a pace that whenever a record was released, the tracks had already been dropped from the live set - the urgency to communicate suffocating professional reason.
