It is interesting how the production quality of 'Baltimore' is a digression from that of tracks Mr. Parkes made 10 years prior! It's as if he threw away everything that one came to expect from him; precision, subtlety, sophistication and created a dirty dancefloor smasher instead, complete with ragga sample. The track seems unfinished, lacking mix-down even, yet the music is so powerful it would take away from the tune to clean it up in any way.
Now that fools are all on some "liquid" and "neuro" examples of tight production, this guy takes it back to the nasty jump-up jungle roots, that he was *not* known for back when!! WTF...

I don't really like the A side, "No Joke", but "Baltimore"...that's the one!
Heavy, mind-bending track from Photek. This is the tune that makes you forget about everything and just rewind it again and again and again and again... Haunting atmospheres, crushing beats and that fucking energy! Best of 2004!
