The Fabulous Poodles's "Think Pink" release doesn't compare to their consistently witty "Mirror Stars" album, but it does have its charms. The Poodles seem to be showing a more serious side here and it pays with songs like "Any Port in the Storm," "(Hollywood)Dragnet," "You Wouldn't Listen" and the stark "Suicide Bridge." "You Wouldn't Listen", in particular, is a favourite song of mine. The humour of this album is somewhat more uneven. "Ann Rexia" is the standout here - a truly jaw-dropping classic in rockabilly style. It really is something. "Bionic Man" is an amusing workman-like song, but "Bike Blood" and "Vampire Rock" seem to be pitching to, shall we say, sillier ears - they pass muster, but they don't compare to "Mirror Stars." "Pink City Twist" is a fun little tune and "Cossack Cowboy" is a fine workout for the violinist. The album is worth a listen - and do not miss "Ann Rexia" at all costs!
