For those of you who don't know, FEX is Frank Xavier who is more widely known for his work as 1/3rd of Infusion. On the latest FEX single, Frank takes Freeland's Marine Parade label to the electro side of things with the stand out B side, "Last Train". A deep, tinkering track with a sticky, melodic hook and vocoder madness. The A side isn't bad either, more of the classic Infusion style we've witnessed on such releases as "Dead Souls". Dark, mean and nasty...
I listened to this in the record shop on 45rpm by mistake because it was in the DnB section. I think 'Last Train' sounds quite good at that speed and so i bought it for my DnB sets! Pitching it up that much makes the snares really tight and makes it sound like a Rascal & Klone tune. At 45rpm the tempo is about 175BPM so it's perfectly mixable with other DnB records.
