Reviews & Discussion

Review by djinsomnia Jun 19, 2002

referencing #1, 2xLP, GIGOLO 70

Fischerspooner are the purest form of spectacle, a distillation of the universal desire for excitement and escape, a ploy devised by subversive artists to infiltrate popular culture and promote the intellectual pursuit of ultimate pleasure. Their debut album, '#1', is filled with moments that move between punk and pop, eighties electro and post millenial techno. Including 'Emerge', their debut single and 'artist statement' which freshly combines elements of (mainly) electronic music from the last twenty years, flirting with the classic pop format and running it through a filth filter.
