Notes

Along with a video for 'Autumn Windows' and 5 bonus tracks in mp3, the data section contains the following message from the artist (in .txt format):

The Flashbulb trusts you!!
_______________________

Hello. I should probably start out by expressing my gratitude for you for purchasing this album and making it more possible for more albums like this to be printed through independent financial budgets. :)

Originally, when programming the data menu on this CD, I had implemented a system in which the bonus tracks would be encrypted and only playable through the menu itself after retaining a key from a website. This would make it close to impossible for someone to get a hold of these tracks without purchasing the actual album. But I couldn’t help think of the people who may have spent their hard earned money on this album, but couldn’t hear the bonus tracks because they had a Macintosh/Linux machine or were without an internet connection. So, instead of treating my customers like untrustworthy criminals, I just copied the mp3s to the data sector of the disc and put a little faith in humanity for once. Since all of my albums are on my computer (and CDs collect dust in the corner), I’ve also decided to not put any rip-protection on the audio sector. Simply because it’s silly to be that paranoid, which often leads to inconveniencing many trustworthy fans. I myself benefit from mp3 technology, and so should you. So rip away!

The problem however, is in file sharing. There’s a lot of talk in the media about how file sharing is destroying the music business. This is absolutely false, take my word. File sharing is benefiting big labels by means of shutting down their much-less-financially-secure independent competitors. Legal payouts and damages will continue, and the smaller labels like Alphabasic, Planet-Mu, Zod, Rephlex…etc (who suffer the most from piracy) will continue to NOT see compensation for their losses due to lack of political and market influence. Instead this compensation is given to the RIAA, who is (so far successfully) using file sharing as a strategy to completely monopolize the market.

So please, support smaller labels by not sharing this and other independent albums on peer to peer networks. A single lost sale to piracy damages us smaller companies a lot, and prevents us from printing new recordings. Thanks again for your support. I hope you enjoy this album as much as I enjoyed creating it!

Love,
Benn Jordan
