The second plate is one of the most interesting cut & paste work of the decade; "Soulhack" is a kind of soulfull slice of beat science, so raw, so true, that you can spin it in a hip hop set for advanced b-boys as well as in a open-minded soul or d Flickermood is also a high octane set of mentally disturbed jazz breakes. This one will please Amon Tobin's fanbase as well as all free-style dj's...

Glitchtronica soul jazz? Forss does it with ease. SOULHACK is a beautiful surprise, at once deep and challenging. From the clatter of the title track to the sweet syncopated bass of "Funk for Nerds," sample-based jazz has never sounded so progressive and modern (with perhaps the exception of Jan Jelinek, who approaches the form from completely different angle; the chopped funk of "Flickermood" easily draws the line between them). The spoken word of "Journeyman," is a slight misstep, since it shifts the focus to the vocals, rather than the music, but the dark, dense and dystopic "Atomised" recovers the mood. There a sense of heartache on "Characteristics," from the piano melody to the blues sample. The more symphonic "Tacit Knowledge" brings a classical grace, and the final track, "Paradigm Shift," shows that downtempo can have an experimental cut-and-paste heart to it. An outstanding debut.

electronic music doesnt get much better than this.
a lot like the best of amon tobin this is a very very complex sound and doesnt stop giving you chills even after listining to it for several times. you get the feeling of listening to the soundtrack of a movie that should have been made a long time ago. like cinematic orchestra in this aspect, though forss is more broken, rougher and more distorted than co. the mostly instrumental songs paint an overall dark and sometimes frighteningly depressing mood.

the sheer bandwith is more than satisfying. from jazz influenced songs to deconstructed electronic broken beats to trip hop sample voiceover to smooth downbeat. you wont stop being amazed by this record. never!! just be sure to use proper sound equipment while listening to it!

forss: soulhack gets my highest possible recommandation. go get it!
