Our Friends from Rio, the Brazilian jazz collective, get put through the remix machine on Misturada 4 with some great results. The emphasis here seems to be on drum ‘n’ bass and breaks, with a whole list of luminaries putting their personal touches on the originals: Soul Circuit, for instance, break up the party on “Lance Livre,” and 4 Hero work their regular magic on “Vera Cruz.” There’s a slightly harder edge on The G Force and Seiji mix of “Comeco Da Festa” and the Flytronix mix of “Super Legal,” but the downtempo version of “Escravos Do Jo” by Da Lata softens any hardness the other mixes may have. Quite a good compilation.
