I am unfamiliar with the so-called ON-U SOUND, so cannot really judge this recording against any other. You, the reader probably know the kind of sound to expect and so can judge whether to buy a copy or not. To my untrained ear it sounds a lot like a NINE INCH NAILS minimalist remix of the "Pretty Hate Machine" album, with the upbeat tracks slowed down to a mellow pace. I can also hear elements of FRONT 242 in the heavy use of sequencers - in fact at one point I thought they were going into a remake of "Body To Body".
Having said the above, the heaviest element is a stripped-down, slowed-down Hip-Hop skeleton with heaps of juicy, interesting effects poured in and out of the mix, occasionally rendering it almost too minimal to be 'dance' music. Its certainly the most interesting record I've ever heard in this genre / field - I'll be looking out for more!

Andy Fairley appears on track 4. - M.O.V.E. Although various websites remark that this voiceover sounds "suspiciously" like Andy Fairley, he is uncredited. On-U Sound's publicity material for "15 Years In An Open Boat", found at:
