During the early 90's, dance music was exploding the world over. It was at its most inventive, yet still a fledgling music form. But by 1991, the UK and Europe, especially Belgium (of all places), were producing the tunes that set the standard for what was to come. And this tune is one of them.

This must surely rate as one of the most perfect House records of all time. There is simply NOTHING wrong with it. The arrangement is nothing short of genius, with carefully placed off-beats, analogue synth stabs, whirling, haunting voices, bass lines to die for, and, of course, arguably the greatest piano break-down ever. 'For my passion' the sexy woman's voice opines throughout- this cannot fail to leave a mark on the listener.

Perhaps its greatest legacy is that is sounds as fresh and relevant today, as it did 15 years ago! A tremendous, pulsating example of dance music at its brilliant, and original, best. A true classic. 10/10

Classic dance tune and a crying shame that someone felt the need to release a crass Degrees In Motion acapella mix over it. Often overlooked is the Darren Emerson mix, more percussion than the Naked mix and this makes it sound great at volume in a large venue, a long build up which is quite tricky to mix but it really lifts off when the beat kicks in, a nice acidic breakdown three-quarters of the way through and lifts off again into an atmospheric close. Classic Emerson stuff.

More sought after is the first press promo. Still one sided with the same run out groove TAGO 1 on the playable side but instead of an ink stamp it has a sticky label detailing passion Gat 071 434 0029 all in uppercase. This was distributed initially to the main DJ's and leading press

If you can find one of these they are all time rarity of an all time classic anthem

Theres no need to review the track because if you dont already know it you've probably clicked on this page by mistake!

I originally got this for the "Of your passion" mix which i prefer to the Naked mix, simply for the extra vocal - "of your passion - uh, uh, uh"! but when i heard the Emerson remix - wow, what a remix - i love it - sounds amazing on studio monitors!

Darren Emerson's mix of Gat Decor's "Passion" is the definitive mix in every sense of the word definitive. A 14 minute journey with almost strategically timed builds and breakdowns, it is a mix that makes everyone on the dancefloor feel a bit sexier...and makes trainspotters convulse with delight.

And believe it or not, according to dirty.org, this was his very first remix.

An absolute belter of a track that crossed over on to so many dancefloors & so many different DJs. It's tough rocking house music but at the same time a euphoric piano heaven-sent anthem that would light up any club. Sasha used to cane this & mix it with DOP - 'Groovy Beat' (Guerilla) which goes amazingly well. This was probably the start of what people now call progressive house but it's so much more interesting than much of the bland, souless shite under that banner today.

In my opinion one of the greatest house anthems of all time. The production, melody and structure are so spot-on that they make this a truly timeless track and it's difficult to believe it's as old as it is!

Unfortunately some phillistines have mauled this beautiful track with acapella vocals (e.g. Biti's 'Do You Want It Right Now') in order to make it more commercial.

Passion was originally an instrumental track until Tag Records decided to copy the vocals from Degree of Motion's 'Do you want it right now' and hey presto, you have one of the best dance tracks ever made!

This was probably the first official "progressive" house tune. Tagging according to music magazines as that was the only reason the term "progressive" appeared is complete bollocks in my opinion.
It is just a very, very funky house tune with a piano riff that will tear a dancefloor apart and a basssline to die for.
