Germ are one of those missed or misunderstood artists that actually are quite important in terms of the whole idm movement. Take this EP (which i saw performed live in the studio). It starts with odd background sounds (they always have this strange ambient kind of production which sounds like it is coming from somewhere else) but then bang - it kicks in with one of Germ's unfollowable but kick arse beats. Layered with a jazzy trombone over the top. The CD version is unfortunately better than the one on vinyl which is obviously a real shame as I only play records! Dont get me wrong though, the record is superb as well.
