Simple breaks get pummeled into a collage of textures like so much shattered glass. Starts out slow and funky, gets evil in no time flat. Essential. -skb
logo side is based around the amazing ULTRAMAGNETIC MC'S . the track was on their first lp travelling at the speed of ____ thought/ sound ? track had full loops used on this cut , and vox sample throughout track went "ultra magnetic magnetic , mc's ultra , magnetic magnetic .." cracking revamp this is . and the ultra's lp is one of the best ever hip hop lp's every track is aamzing
These two tracks sound really sample-heavy and hiphop-influenced, and they aren't much like what Booth/Brown were doing as Autechre at the time. Really raw and really good, more engaging and energetic than the first Gescom EP for me - (of course the packaging isn't as cool). To my ears, the first side sounds better at 33 RPM: at this speed it reminds me of a much rawer take on "Maphive 6.1" from Ae ep7.
What I love so much about EP2 is that it was a sudden departure from EP1. That's what you should expect from Gescom in their further releases for them to take the road less traveled and to do it so well.
