referencing The Revolution Will Not Be Televised, CD, Comp, RM, 6994-2-RB

This is a great sampling of Gil's 1st 3 albums at Flying Dutchman. This contains all of the tracks from "Pieces Of A Man" and some poetry recitations from "Small Talk" and "Free Will" (and also the best song from the later, "Get Our Of The Ghetto Blues" plus "Did You Hear What They Said" which is good but sad, like most of Free Will's music). The mastering on here is pretty flat and in need of re-equalizing. If you can afford it, you are better off getting his 1st 3 CDs available as imports. If that is too deep for your pockets, try this bargain disk. I admit I'm a bit partial to it because it was my introduction to Gil's work. If you are not familiar with Gil's early music, the 1999 compilation "Ghetto Style" is an even better sampling of his early stuff (with a much fuller mastering) and is now perhaps the best place to start for people testing the waters.
