Following two vinyl e.p.s and the critically acclaimed album 'Slow Motion Process' on Worm Interface, the mysterious Austrian project known as Gimmik returns with this outstanding brand new e.p. on Toytronic. Similar to 'Slow Motion Process', 'Rythmus Der Stadt' explores more glitchy, melodic electronica, this time around adding more emphasis on diversity and wiser compositions. A heightened sense of progression is present here, developing songs that are both rhythmic and beautiful all at once. 'Angland' starts off the e.p. with a beautiful distant melody and quickly erupts into a slowly thumping beat alongside crunchy retorts and attractive dark tones. A strange, filtered vocal harmony leads 'Eine Geschichte' while rapidly panning glitch, hollow, thumping beats, and sorrowful synths trail lavishly along. Intricate stings, crunchy beats, wonderful panning effects, multi-layered melodies, and dark synthesizers are all carefully woven components of this 6-track e.p. Each song maintains its own identity, giving the record a multitude of personalities, but remaining parallel to the cohesive Gimmik sound.
