Whatever Richie Hawtin touched in the early 1990s is worth a listen and this is no exception. Being an early Industrial Strength, it is relatively tamed techno, compared with later releases, but it does not mean it is mellow either. The Acid line on the A side is properly ripping in a sawblade kind of way, while both tracks on the flip are rather heavy (for 1992) techno pieces with an EBM touch and lots of samples (Meat Beat Manifesto's Helter Skelter got the treatment, here). The latter two do not stand so well on their own, now, but work fine in a mix. The Circuit Breaker remix works in either configuration, though it takes a sorcerer to mix it, as its tempo fluctuates by 10bpm randomly throughout the track.
Not a milestone release, yet a nice addition for fans of early Hawtin and Acid techno in general and some of the most playable Glitch tracks as a bonus.
