Green Velvet - Portamento Tracks

pure madness, became an instant classic for me first time i heard this record. "flash" is very nice exhibition of the typical next-door-rave-party, showcasing ballon-sucking, liquor-drinking and joint-smoking (so rather harmless, uh?) "bad little kiddies". whole text spoken like a guided tour for the probably very shocked parental parts of candy raver´s family."i want to leave my body" is a peak-time rocker as well, putting the portamento to a over-modulated edge of listening pleasure and testing your ear-drums to the limit. mantra-like vox that recommend out-of-body-experiences on top and a very nice acid-hook make this one of my favourite b-side-tracks.
explorer is simply fun. a pure copy of the "flash"-track with some very nice shoutings over the top, introducing jones as "gordagh(?), lord of the jungle..." well...
i would feature the "untitled" rather as "a bonus track", since this is stated by jones, before it starts. very solid work as well, with a nice sample work on top and on any standard release probably the purchase reason, but on such a high-class release it´s just a bonus, not more...
so don´t bother with 2000 remixes, rereleases and lp-versions, try to hunt down the original release, since you´ll only find here some very nice additional trackwork featured alongside the mega hit "flash".
