Reviews & Discussion

Rated 5/5

Initially I was not very impressed with this compilation. Cattaneo's Part One was, to me, amongst the very best in my collection (more disc 1 than 2 though). Over time, I caught on this album. Especially disc 2.

It starts off with the ingenious Pole Folder remix of Part Three. Cattaneo then takes us on an educational trip through melancholic tech house, a stunning breaks stormer with his own co-production, Warsaw, through a raw-bassed Nick Muir - Saving You (my personal favourite release of 2005), then via a classic-sounding Satoshi Tomiie Hybrid mix to an ironically funky outro with an edit of Underworld's "Mo Move".

And disc 1 is pretty decent too..

Cattáneo strikes again. Brilliant reappearance in Renaissance's Master Series after his successful first part.
CD 1 is housier, including Yoshitoshi's progressive 'Horn' by Ciro and deeper 'Sidewinder' mix by Mike Hiratzka. CD 2 is what the argentinian makes best: hypnotic progressive house with great atmospheres and long transitions. Tomiiee's mix of Hybrid's 'Higher Than a Skyscraper' is my favourite, just like a symphony. Definitely Hernán has become a 'Master'.
¡Arriba Hernán!

Hernan Cattaneo departs from his signature tribal sound with some ethnic overtones and goes into more mainstream progressive sound. After a second listen, it's not that bad of a thing. His mixing is evermore so seamless--in fact, it flows so well you don't even notice that the next track has already kicked in by the time there is a difference. Tracks are still quite a quality choice, Warsaw by the Man himself being one of definite favorites. Not sure if this as much of a milestone as the South America CD, but definitely a gifted mix. The only complaint I have is that sometimes it feels a little too dragged out.
