Reviews & Discussion

Review by Fronhornet Oct 30, 2008
Middling collection of mixes of Humanoids seminal 88 cut, Stakker Humanoid.

For every mix that genuinely brings something new to the table, there are at least 2 that go nowhere or waste potential. On the second pile is the Feadz 07 mix which is a total waste of space and Graham Massey's version of Stakker which also squanders the source material (Though his version of Body Electric is largely good).

In fact it doesn't get going till the end of disc 1, with the Pirate Robot Midget mix a credible version and both of the
Peel sessions being ace. Slam especially, as it drops the rap entirely and builds it around the acid line and adds a french vocal to the mix.

Disc 2 has largely better mixes, DXU:555 Tx Tracker and Mystery Artists both being very good and the Sub Osc mix being interesting due to messing with the classic vocal and adding dark synths to the mix.

I would, have preferred the Snowman Mix to be on here and the removal of the middling Cry Baby, which always turns up on humanoid albums.

Overall not bad, but could do with editing some of these mixes.
