Reviews & Discussion

The samples on "Pioneers of the Warped Groove" are as follows. The dialogue about "going for a ride" is from the David Lynch film Blue Velvet. The samples "Let us pray" and "In time, are from the movie The Exorcist. Also, the "Party People" sample is obviously from Planet Rock by the Soulsonic Force. This record is an all-time classic and was way ahead of its time. Trancey hardcore, the screaming gets a bit unnerving at times, but the rest of the track more than makes up for this.

In all the hail mary's and praise and glory for "this is my house" people should not forget that for some DJ's (like myself), the B-side of this excellent 12" is at least of the same calibre as "this is my house". The track "Pioneers of the warped groove" is the best track of 1991 imho. The track starts with some strings (hollywood style with operavoices) and a movie sample going: "you wanna go for a ride? - No thanx - What does that mean no thanks? - I dont wanna go - Go where? - For a ride - A RIDE, what a great idea, LETS GO" --- later followed by "party...party people ... " "LET US PRAY" followed by the main bassline, a very good bassline and ahead of its time. It grabs you and drags you across the dancefloor. Its a brooding dark and mysterious track with great breaks, of which LET US PRAY must be the most well known, or maybe: "This will be with you In time, In time....".
These days it should really be played on (45rpm) +3 or +4 depending on the party and its visitors, to get the same rush as "we" had in 1991 when it was released.
Any serious DJ should consider getting a dayjob if this record is not in the collection ;)

This record is strange because at the end they've cut the record in such a way that it never ends, the final bar of the tune just seems to be looped over and over again so the record never stops playing !! Which is very fitting with this hardcore beauty !! Caspar Pound REST IN PEACE !!

The song,This Is My House, isn't trance or techno, this is old school rave, one of the best of his time , back in 1991.
When u hear this for the first time , u will think this is a vocal mellow song, with pianosamples & a woman singing.
And you thought the beat slow down.......Come on....After this break comes a fat acid bass that make's you wanna jump to the roof.
if u like oldschool, get one a.s.a.p.
