The following information is from Ikons homepage, when they released it as a free download.
September 1991: Death in the Dark had just fired drummer Santo M from the band for lack of vision and ability. October saw the band starting on a fresh note. Maurice Molella was a long-time friend of Chris McCarter and wanted to join the group. The original members jammed out ‘As Time Goes By’ and ‘The Dream’ (later to become ‘Dreaming’ in 1993) so that the band had some new ideas to work with their new drummer. These are the original demos for these two tracks. “The Dream” also features Chris on vocals.

According to Chris, tracks 3 to 9 are from the third rehearsal with Maurice, at which the song ‘Fear’ was written. ‘Tomorrow I Think I’ll Die’ was an old track from 1988 that was later recorded and re-written by IKON as ‘A Moment in Time’ in 1995.

Tracks 11 to 12 were part of another writing session between Chris, Michael Carrodus and Dino Molinaro, in which two new tracks ‘She Smiles’ and ‘So Far Away’ were composed, among others.

The band was still called Death in the Dark right up to the night of the first performance in December 1991, hence the title of this download: ‘Out of the Dark’.
All of these tracks are rough and show the songs and the band in development. These recordings were never intended for anyone outside of the band to hear. They were also lucky enough to survive nearly 20 years stored on cassette tapes. The tapes have been cleaned up and restored by Adam Calaitzis especially for this project.
