What a release from International Pony, the original tracks are great, normally not a fan of IP's gear, but this rocks! However go straight to the Jackmate remixes. First up on the A is Jackmate's (real name Michel Baumann / aka Soulphiction & Supatone) remix of "A New Bassline For Jose", he turns the original into and minimal acid bomb, complete with Carl Craig esque funk and chunk, but with Jackmate's irresistible groove. On the flip "Superyou" is a journey into italo deep disco action, with a cheeky little melody floating over the top, old warm pads and stabs. Then Jackmate's remix is once again the winner, upping the energy with a phat acidic b-line groove, drops back into a similar deep groove to the original, then chops things up, and drops some phat as rhythms. All Jackmate and Soulphiction stuff is of such high quality and funk, reminiscent of some Moodyman or Carl Craig gear. 5/5 with a punch!
