Marvelous funk from as white a boy as you could imagine. It's still catchy as all heck, however, with enough soul and groove to get you in the mood for... whatever. "Brand New Sound" incorporates a string sample (also used by Kid Loco on his track "Pearly Girly Man") that takes it up a notch. The classic "Compared to What" is given a competent remake, while "Before the Fall" pulls out all the stops and delivers some great ultra-funkiness. It's my favorite track on the album. "Beat of Ages" brings heavy metal bombast into the funk age. A lot of the album sort of slides by without really hooking you, but it's good enough to keep you tapping your toes as you do other things.
