Not sure whether it is because of a more 'alternative' James Lavelle sound, but I feel like music in this GU mix comes alive like in no other compilation. Regardless of whether it is UNKLE-like or not UNKLE-like, this is a brilliant flow of music from start to finish. I also appreciate that James gives both of the CD's a great finish (without going into the often-misused electro) and his usually cross-over style is still quite 'electronic' and not too much rock-alternative-pop. Good stuff!

Not the typical GU set, but not dissapointing. Not as much of the UNKLE sound one would come to expect from James Lavelle. However, this set is great, recorded at Barcelona's Legendary club Nitsa. The intro (welcome to Fear) is worthy of its own cd, and this sets diverse mix of song types is incredible. Overall a good set, not dissapointing to any GU or James Lavelle fan, a must buy.

This set was recorded in Nitsa Club, Barcelona's most legendary club. I expected this Global Underground to have a more progressive sound but you can find all kinds of styles, mixed perfectly. Anyway it sounds british to me. Very good work.

This CD set isn't like the other Global Underground CDs. But thats a good thing because its nice to have something different from the rest of them. Its more Breakbeat oriented and very nice to dance to. James Lavelles mixing is great and his track selection is really cool. Next Global Underground Comps will be right back to the progressive sound so enjoy this one while you can.

I was unsure of what to expect when I picked up this cd, I had been told by freinds that it was fantastic. GU023 sure didn't dissapoint I was very impressed with its variety and selection of tracks and also the mixing. The cd contains a nice selection of breakz, prog, deep house and also some cross over type stuff.

Definately worth the purchase... I can't get enough of this album... Infact I am listening to it now :)

I expected a James Lavelle mix CD to be a bit more, well, UNKLE. I do like a bit of UNKLE, but I was very pleased to discover that it was an extremely varied selection of tunes. It's also (IMHO) one of the best in the entire GU series. Tracks range from hip hop to breakbeat to funky breakbeat to breakbeat-house to house to deep house to dub and beyond. Tunes that will probably stand out the most are probably the Drummatic Twins' mammoth breaks of "Invisible Bass", Lee Burridge's extremely deep "Lost", Dead Prez's electro-breaks-hop number "Hip Hop", Kybosh's super bass-heavy house monster "Revolution", and UNKLE's own mix of Ian 'Monkey Boy' Brown's "F.E.A.R.". The inclusion of Doves "There Goes The Fear" is a brave decision, but after a mix as good as that, he could have stuck on the Mr Blobby song. Congratulations Mr Lavelle, you have won over another fan. You've also upset the next person in line to do a GU mix, as they'll have o pull off something amazing to come close to this.
