Having possessed this album on initial release 10 years ago(WOW!!),it still stands as one of my favourites. Playful tracks like 'May The Funk be With you'& 'Noddy Holder'(also featuring on ColdCut's 70 Mins of Madness!) deep house Funk, you know the score brothers & sisters!!....It segues along like a playful journey in 'Space Funk'(if there was a term!!)...& then towards the end, becomes a serious & more familiar approach by these two geniuses..Ambient/Funk Bliss with 'Solina' & 'Human blancmange'..also check 'Afterlife'..the last track. You will be whisked away with sonic objects of desire....Send away for the T-Shirt as well(if you can)...Very cool!

For all the talk at the time of how this was tongue in cheek and a good giggle, over time the music is seeming more and more cool, to the point of sterility. 'New School Science' doesn't fit with the futurist Detroit styles of acts like Drexciya, nor with the full-blown electro-funk revival that's taken place since the album was released... which I guess means it is its own thing, but whether or not the results are enjoyable is questionable. In my opinion the conscious novelty samples from X-Files, Monty Python, and Beat Street all seem quite at odds with the total lack of melody throughout. 80s space invaders noises have lost their kitsch value - they're totally acceptable again. If it were made now there'd be rude 'Smurf' style synth leads all over the place.

''We are the knights who say NI!! A rare Global Communication album under the alias Jedi Knights. Deleted because Tom and Mark used (nicked) the Jedi Knight name, invented by George Lucas (Star Wars) and they were not permitted to do so..
Tongue in Cheek neo-electro with a Global Communication touch.. I have searched this album for years and finally bought it at Ebay.
Some tracks are re-released on the Jedi Selector, released several years later.

'New School Science' ushered in the era of the kitschy remembrance of swing past with a collection of tracks that a shell-toed Monty Python would have made. Heralding the retro-electro movement, this album looked back to the days when technology was silly and charming, not threatening.

If Science Friction sounds familiar, it's because you've heard it before. It's 7:39 (Link And E621 Appliance Of Science Mix) from the second 12" of Global Communication's Maiden Voyage ep under a different name. But no less good.
