I am really not that much of a Purpose Maker man (I adore Axis though), but the track B2, Sugar Is Sweeter, is amazing. No strings attached, dominant kick with an awesome high pitched sound throughout and an underlying, organic melodic sequence. Goes really well with stuff on Code Red. May I say how well it sounds when mixed into CODE RED 06 B2 - the Marco Carola cut.
Cubango has a nice progression, with some bells thrown in the mix. Not to be confused, it has nothing to do with the Jeff Mills tune The Bells. This one is way less memorable, although an effective tool. Actually, all four cuts are DJ friendly, but feel shallow otherwise. Great groove with a tribal punch, and just like the swedish Code Red label (which got all of its ideas from Purpose Maker), the tunes are extremely well built, but it is the utilitarian nature of the release, as well as the rest of the label's catalogue, which makes me reluctant to put this on if not for a set.
Definitely a classic release. Has that sense of directness that Mills can create : straight into the world of rhythm -no beating around the bush! Really good quality sound . Sugar is Sweeter - very sweet!
