Another contribution to the Robot series. Here Jeff Mills continues to explore the interelations between humans and robots... blah-blah-blah, I've never subscribed to his philosophical long-winded descriptions that accompany many of his records but I do find them entertaining. Simply put, "The Defender" is similar to the material from albums like "Contact Special" or "The 21st". Spacey, sci-fi feel. A2 "Recharge" is my favorite cut; Dark, cold and led by a muted bell sound for lack of a better description (metallic xylophone-like loop)... reminds me a tad of the bell sound from Mills' most popular work. This is a strong 12" all the way through. If you liked "The Good Robot" then definitely add this one to your collection. I seriously think Jeff believes and transforms his philosophies into music composition. Truly I have nothing but respect for this man. I hope there will be more Robot 12"s in the future.
