Jliat - Still Life #7: The Grandi Series

The Grandi Series is the series 1- 1+ 1- 1+. Looked at one way this is (1-1) + (1-1) + ...=0; but looked another way we have 1+ (-1+1) + (-1+1) +...=1! Grandi discovered this series in 1703; he claimed that God must have used a technique based on this series in order to create Something from Nothing, and thus get the cosmos going. This is not really as insane as it sounds - a more sophisticated way of saying something similar would be to claim that the cosmos is a moire, an interference pattern produced by a wave function out of phase with itself.
